Night City is heading to the big screen. Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film, Deadline reported on October 8, 2026.

Who’s involved

  • Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to produce. He’s the veteran producer behind Paramount’s Transformers films.
  • CD Projekt Red is producing alongside him. That’s a good sign for fans worried about the source material.

CDPR co-CEO Michał Nowakowski responded on X, calling Paramount a future partner: “We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time.”

What we don’t know (yet)

  • No director, writer or cast has been announced.
  • There’s no release date.
  • It’s unclear whether the film will adapt V’s story from the 2020 game or tell a new tale set in Night City.

Some outlets note earlier talks about a live-action adaptation involving Anonymous Content. Deadline’s report doesn’t mention them, so it’s not clear whether this is the same project.

Why it makes sense

Cyberpunk 2077’s comeback story is one of gaming’s best: from a rough 2020 launch, through years of patches and the acclaimed anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, to the Phantom Liberty expansion.

With video game adaptations now regularly drawing big audiences in theaters and on streaming, a live-action Night City was probably a matter of when, not if.

Dream casting time: who plays V? And can anyone other than Keanu Reeves play Johnny Silverhand? Tell us in the comments.
