Night City is not done with you yet. Cyberpunk 2077’s free Update 2.5, the Edgerunners 2 Update, rolled out on October 22, and with the Nintendo Switch 2 version landing days later, the patch is now out across every platform. It is the rare late-life update that genuinely changes how the game plays: dual-wielding, console mods, two new quests, and a cyberware refresh, all in one free download.
The headline: dual-wielding is finally real
The single biggest gameplay addition is the Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree, backed by four auxiliary perks. It lets V dual-wield Power pistols and revolvers, a playstyle the game has never offered before, and a genuine reason to start a fresh gunslinger build.
Pair it with the new cyberware customization and the build possibilities widen further. Five new Glamdoc shops, marked with a spray-paint icon on the map, let you restyle your hand and arm cyberware: Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System. Each shop has its own catalog of skins and customizable colors. The changes are appearance-only, so your damage numbers stay put, but for a game this obsessed with style, looking the part is half the build.
Two new quests, and how to unlock them
Update 2.5 adds two side quests, both tied to the Edgerunners anime, and both gated behind early-game progress.
Clampdown is the headline quest. Set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, it unlocks once you complete The Heist and finish two gigs for Wakako, the Westbrook fixer. Wait for her message and the quest begins, rewarding a five-piece gear set based on King, a character from the new season.
Welcome to Paradise is the stranger of the two: a mystery and a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night himself. It unlocks after The Heist once you reach Street Cred level 15. On top of that, 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards are hidden across the city, extending the Fool on the Hill questline.
The anime tie-in extends to the airwaves too. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from across the Edgerunners series. All ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix on October 20, two days before the patch, so the timing is deliberate.
Console mods arrive, with one catch
The change with the longest tail is cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. For the first time, console players can browse and install a curated selection of community mods directly from the in-game menu. The feature covers PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, and CD Projekt Red describes it as a first step, with more mods becoming available over time.
There is one catch. Modded saves get a dedicated marker in the load menu, and trophies and achievements are disabled while playing from a modded save. Trophy hunters should keep a clean save separate from their modded experiments.
It is also worth knowing what this is not. Mod.io is an in-game browsing and installation layer, not REDmod, the PC-only modding toolset CD Projekt Red has supported since version 1.6. PC players with deep mod setups should still back up their saves and check that their script frameworks are compatible before updating.
The quality-of-life and tech upgrades
Beyond the headline features, Update 2.5 is packed with polish. Console players finally get a field-of-view slider, saves are now grouped by playthrough in the load menu, and apartment and vehicle stashes get item filters.
On the fashion front, five new clothing sets arrive from vendors around the city, several hairstyles previously exclusive to NPCs are now available for V, and four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech arrive via Twitch Drops.
On the tech side, PC players get DLSS 4.5 support, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation on compatible GeForce RTX hardware, alongside improved HDR rendering. Mac players get MetalFX Frame Interpolation improvements, and PlayStation 5 Pro gets its own round of performance work. AMD players should note one removal: FSR 3 upscaling is gone, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain.
Platform rollout: where it is out, and where it is not yet
The initial rollout on October 22 covered PC and Mac via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, plus PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch 2 version and the Mac App Store version followed in the days after, and CD Projekt Red confirmed on its official forums on October 25 that Update 2.5 is now available on Switch 2. One exception remains: players on PC via Battle.net will not get Update 2.5 until November 10.
Known issues to check before you jump in
No patch this size lands perfectly clean. Players on PlayStation 5 have reported cloud save problems around the update window, CD Projekt Red lists cyberware stats as a known issue on PC under 2.5, and artifacting has been reported by some Radeon RX 570 users. Check the official support page before starting a fresh playthrough, and back up your saves regardless. The patch itself also fixes several annoyances, including PlayStation 5 HDR settings that previously had no effect and a Switch 2 save error that could incorrectly report insufficient storage.
The bottom line
Update 2.5 is free, it is substantial, and it is now available on every platform except Battle.net, where it lands November 10. Dual-wielding alone justifies a new build, console mods change the long-term picture for PlayStation and Xbox players, and the Edgerunners 2 quests give returning players a concrete reason to load back in this week.
Six years after one of the messiest launches in modern gaming, Cyberpunk 2077 keeps getting better. If the anime pulled you back in, Night City is ready for you.
